Dialogue, CCTV9, today’s host was Cui Jian.   I was lying on the sofa, pleased,watching this non-political program.  When my dad passed by, I began listening both my dad and TV saying the Chinese rock 'n roll music. Dad said that he has always been the VIP guy who sit in front of the stage. He was lucky person coz he and Cui's friends some time hanging out together when they were young.So they got the VIP tickets for free.   When there is a concert , the people who all crazy about him, especially foreigners. At that time i was shocked that me and dad have no generation gap, owning to the magic music. In fact, many Chinese in the new age like me, seldom understand the lyrics meaning of Cui's. That kind of entertainment represent a lot of people in my dad's age.So it hard to communicate all the things with different generation sometimes. Whereas only can music be the bridge. No matter what kind of era, music could express the spiritual,mature life, and trouble maker dirty looking face maybe always be the focus. No need for us to understand all the lyrics,rit?

o, In addition, i knew that Cui Jian could drink a lot when he was young.

Rock 'N Roll" is one of my favorite types of music. And I always crazy about "westerner's bands". Love lyrics is my favourite part. Such as The Beatels ,John Lennon,~Avril Lavigne , especially.

It "shock things up" in the 1950s and 1960s. Many musical styles from around the world contributed to this new sound. Along with the African American influence, rock 'n roll also drew on the lyrical melodies of recent European immigrants and the country and western music of Texans.

The music became popular in small clubs and on the radio. Then, with the introduction of programs, teenagers could watch their favorite bands on television. Not everyone was excited about this music. Many parents didn't like the suggestive dancing, naughty lyrics, and loud, fast beat.

"Rock 'N Roll" is a musical genre whose' golden age' is usually recognized as the decades of the 1950's and 1960's. This musical form had its beginnings in the blues tunes,gospel music, and jazz-influenced vocal music that became popular among African-American audiences after World War II. A new knd of blues, it featured electrically amplified guitars. harmonicas, and drummers that emphasized afterbeats.  

By China’s first steps with their opening up policy, Beijing was the entry point for most foreign influences, such performers as CuiJian, and were becoming popular with Chinese people as well as Westerner. 

After visiting several of the rock 'n roll websites, I will complete the most important events in the history of rock 'n roll in China.

1980-1986:The first band ever playing modern music, rock music, in China was established in 1980 in the Beijing foreign language university. The band was called Wan Li Ma Wang and played mostly western classical rock.

1986-1990: “Myth of the hero”

                 The song “I have nothing” (一无所有)became an enormous hit.     

The Northwest Wind (西北风)is also known as style rock.

  Many Northwest Wind songs were highly idealistic and heavily political, parodying or alluding to the revolutionary songs of the                              Communist state, such as “Nanniwan”南泥湾 and “The Internationale”国际歌

 “Sister Go Boldly Forward” （妹妹你大胆的往前走）came to represent a earthy, primordial masculine image of MainlandChina,           as opposed to the soft, sweet, polished urban gangtai style.

Following Cui Jian and starting up as rock bands, Cobra ,Tang Dynasty,唐朝 1988 were formed and are today known as rock legends in China.    

1993-1997: “Aristorcratic Elite”

1997-2004: “Underground Spirit”

PS; whoever get interested in Rock 'n Roll music, could listen to the radio program. i recommend "easy FM" every Sat.and Sun. from 8pm to 10pm---rock 'n roll night
